    I am visiting Bastogne area this month and have been trying to find out more about my friends father who served in the second infantry regiment 5 th division at that time. He was later awarded the Bronze star with first oak leaf cluster. The letter V is on the ribbon. He was 1St Lt Earl Ira Kite and I would love to find out about the reasons for the award.

    Dave the bronze star was given meritoriously to most all who served in Patton’s third army. The combat V is for valor on the field.. He led his men into the most storied battles of the war..

    When old vets tell their tales and when his turn comes and he says
    “I was in Patton’s third army” that needs no explanation… Where he led, only the brave followed..
