Pvt. Melvin Finkler was a 11th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division veteran.
After his basic training in 1944 he was assigned overseas on September 1944. Here he joined K Company, 11th Regiment, 5th Division which was preparing for a big-scale attack on Metz. He was promoted to Private First Class and Finkler then followed the division into the Battle of the Bulge where he got wounded on Christmas Eve when he was shot by a German sniper near the village of Haller, Luxembourg.

My Army Days

Finkler wrote down his memoires of his time in service. His grandson, Kyle, allowed us to publish this on my website.
